Starting Wednesday, March 18th the BAC will be closing for the remainder of March. Students in current classes will receive prorated refunds or credit towards another class. Students registered for upcoming classes will be contacted and offered credit for a reschedule date or a refund. A decision regarding classes beginning in April or later will be made closer to that time in order to adjust for the most recent recommendations or lifting of restrictions.
The Annual High School and Middle School Exhibit will sadly not take place this year. The school closings directly impacts the prep time needed for the students and instructors to get entries ready and submissions to the BAC. This notice includes independent entries as well. (High School & Middle School Awards Reception originally scheduled for Sunday 4/26.) We have released the next round of exhibiting artists and groups from their contracts. The next exhibits are schedule to be installed in May.

Dear BAC Members and Buchanan Community,
Following recommendations announced by the state of Michigan regarding gatherings of over 100 people, the public gallery reception scheduled for Sunday, March 15th has been canceled. A reschedule date is not available at this time.
To help prevent the spread of any virus, we have made sure soap is well stocked in the bathrooms and as a reminder, there is soap and a sink available in the Showplace Gallery Classroom for use during open hours. Hand sanitizer will be available at the reception/ check out desk, as well as disinfectants utilized more frequently in the classroom and on often used surfaces.
We ask our patrons to respect the health of others in the community and self-isolate (stay home) if unwell. The BAC policy regarding prorated refunds will be relaxed during this time. Please use your best judgement on attending public events regarding your personal health situation and the potential impact to the health of others in your community.
While we are not closing at this time, instructors may choose to cancel their classes at their own discretion and updates to our schedule will be posted on our website and social media as available. Students registered for classes will be contacted if their class is effected and offered credit for a reschedule date or a refund.
Many of our volunteers are seniors. Due to their higher risk of complications we are allowing them to stay home at their discretion. This means we may need to adjust our hours of operation. Those changes will be shared as they occur and we suggest calling ahead.
We are keeping on top of official announcements and plan to follow any additional governmental or health department recommendations regarding public gatherings and spaces. We will continue to monitor local situations and announce any schedule changes as necessary.
